The demolition of Greyfriars House,  the former DWP base on The Gallowgate in Aberdeen to make way for the building of up to 140 flats has been approved in principle.

It is proposed the flats will be spread across three new buildings with parking for 33 cars including electric vehicle charging points.

City councillors unanimously approved Telereal Trillium’s outline plans but the firm will still need to gain approval for more detailed plans before building can begin.

Sam Rosenkranz, Telereal Trillium asset manager, said: “Greyfriars House represents a great opportunity to bring this city centre location back to life and reignite its contribution to the local economy.”
